Access to Transportation

The aCorridor’s strategic location along I-81 and I-77 makes the region an access corridor to the East and West and the growing Southeast. The region, which actually touches North Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia, provides market and distribution advantages to companies with business plans that include real-time production and just-in-time deliveries.

I-26 across the North Carolina-Tennessee border connects this major highway system with I-81, further expanding interstate access to the Southeast.

In addition to I-26, Virginia’s aCorridor provides access to I-64, I-75 and I-40, as well as strategic four-lane highway systems including U.S 460, U.S. 58 and U.S. 23, a four-lane highway that stretches from Virginia to Detroit.

Virginia’s aCorridor also provides access to two Foreign Trade Zones, a major airport, and several general aviation airports. Rail service is provided by Norfolk Southern, and various trucking companies operate in the region.

The aCorridor is less than a day’s drive from Virginia’s ports and major cities such as Washington, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit and New York.
